The NETGEAR Nighthawk R7900P Wireless Router can be installed in the steps below:
- Remove the cap per antenna, then attach each antenna into the posts located at the back of the router. The outside antenna should be positioned 45° angle while the center antenna must be positioned vertically.
- Turn off your modem by unplugging it from the power outlet. If the modem is powered by a battery, remove the batteries.
- Connect the ethernet cable wire to the Yellow port located at the backside of the router
- Connect the other end of the ethernet cable wire to the modem
- Plug the modem back into the power outlet to turn it on
- Press the power button to turn on the router
- Wait for the power light of the router to turn solid white
- On your mobile device, connect to your router’s Wi-Fi network. The network name (SSID), and password (Network Key) are printed on the bottom of the router
- Open a web browser and wait for the NETGEAR Genie to automatically display. If you are not redirected to the Genie panel, go to www.routerlogin.net
- If prompted, input your admin username and password. By default, the username is “admin”, and password is “password”
- If you are prompted to change the default credentials, follow on-screen instructions to finish installing and configuring Nighthawk X6S.

After initial set up, sign in to your Nighthawk X6S router to configure some settings, change the network name, and create a guest network.
- Connect to Nighthawk router’s Wi-Fi network from a computer or smartphone
- Open a web browser and go to www.routerlogin.net
- Input your username and password
- Go to Advanced > Administration > Set Password to modify the admin username and password
